For this month’s bonus archive episode we’re traveling back in the mists of time - October 2008 to be exact. It’s a discussion of two films taking on cultural conflict in the US - and potentially becoming part of that conflict.

RELIGULOUS and AN AMERICAN CAROL aren’t well remembered, but at the time of their release, George W Bush was still president, and Barack Obama & John McCain were running for the office.

These two films seek to satirize what their makers see as “the other side”; some of the roots of our current political polarization are obvious here, and it’s strangely comforting to be reminded that ideological silos are nothing new.
