Rebekah Del Rio ( 1967 – 2025)

J: Saddened to hear the news of Rebekah Del Rio’s passing last week. I saw MULHOLLAND DRIVE opening night at a theatre in Notting Hill and, as it ended, you could feel the dread present.

Much of that horrible feeling of, I suppose the knowledge and feeling of one’s mortality, was due to Del Rio’s performance.

When she collapses in the film while her stunning voice still reels out it creates in the viewer such a feeling of absence…as if we know, now, what it’s like to no longer exist…and to understand clearly the world will go without us. As it does.
